FUN FACT: As cannabis advocates we've all heard the stories of how marihuana became illegal, but we weren't given all the facts or the appropriate timelines of those events. The first fact is that the campaign against marihuana didn't start in the early years of the 20th century with Harry Anslinger
The second FUN FACT is that the Secretary of the Treasury in 1937 wasn't Andrew W. Mellon who served as Secretary of the Treasury from March 4, 1921 - February 12, 1932 ... but instead was Henry Morgenthau Jr., who served as Secretary of the Treasury from January 1, 1934 - July 22, 1945.
The third FUN FACT is the campaign against cannabis didn't start in the 20th century with John D. Rockefeller, William R. Hearst nor Lammot Du Pont ... Not saying they didn't have motives to want cannabis outlawed.
The war against cannabis aka hemp began after the Civil War in 1865, when the U.S. Agricultural Commission reported that Flax or Hemp could replace King Cotton (a Confederacy crop) with the invention of a hemp gin (machine).
FYI: Some say Lammot Du Pont couldn't have been involved in tarnishing Lady Cannabis name because Lammot Du Pont wouldn't receive a U.S. Patent for his nylon invention until February 16, 1937. Their also wrong, since the application for U.S. patent was filed on July 3, 1931... giving Lammot a motive

Here's another FUN FACT the names of William Randolph Hearst's newspaper in 1887, 1922 and in 1928. Alright I'll give you the 1887 newspaper name ... it was the San Francisco Examiner.
